Do you experience resistance when you are leading men? Absolutely, but not all men. Unfortunately, there are a lot of men who will always believe they know more than women and do not like taking direction from them. I always work on building a relationship with everyone on my team. I use rapport and great reasoning when leading. I ask for input and inspire members to be the best they can be. Team members need to know they are heard and supported.
As a female leader in hospitality, what has been the most significant barrier in your career? Me, myself and I. There are times when I want to give up, often times having to work two and three times harder than others. Or I think everything I have achieved is good enough and I become complacient. Luckily I continue to surround myself with people who are better than me so I continue to aspire to grow and accomplish even more.
6.) Where can we find you at 10am on a Saturday? At home doing chores. This is after having gone to Trader Joe's and Target. Then it's cleaning time so I can knock everything out and relax and enjoy the weekend.
